World-class Fly Fishing
Andros has it all... ...the planet's best bonefishing, plus tarpon, permit, snapper, jacks, sharks, barracuda and more. Tremendous reef and offshore fishing too for grouper, mackerel, snapper, dorado, tuna, wahoo, and marlin.
If you want to secure the best dates in prime time, booking in advance is the best way. We consider October and November, and March through May as the prime months, with December through February good winter fishing, especially for big bones. Those double digit monsters love the cooler water. And if your focus is tarpon along with the bones and the occasional permit, June is a great choice. |

Andros Crab Fest
The annual All Andros Crab Festival is held every year in June and put on by the Central Andros Local Government and community. It celebrates the Crab-catching ways of Andros Island, which is referred to as "The Land of Crabs," because of its success with harvesting land crab. During the summer months, land crabs are plentiful because it is the rainy season. The crabs burrow beneath the ground to keep cool in the moist earth.
Crab Fest, attracts thousands of visitors each year, who come to enjoy festivities based on the heritage and culture surrounding the crabbing industry, the crab culinary experience on the Island featuring dishes like crab and rice, crab soup, crab and dough, plus great Bahamian entertainment. Highlights include the releasing of the crabs, a Crab Culinary Contest, and Rake and Scrape Music. |
West Side National Park Camping
Andros sprawls over 100 miles from the Joulters Cays on the northern end, to the Water Cays and Curly Cut Cays on the southern tip, and spans 40 miles from the east coast to the West Side. Composed of serpentine channels and creeks, fresh and saltwater lakes, verdant mangrove cays, and countless miles of sandy flats, Andros is blessed with more fertile fishing grounds than any other area in the Caribbean.
The West Side National Park is one of the most pristine and ecologically diverse place in the entire Caribbean. From birdlife, including pink flamingos, to iguanas and wild boar, mazes of mangroves and vegetation, this is an astonishing complex wilderness ecosystem. And to really "get the feel" of how spectacular this special place is, camping is the best way to create unforgettable memories with friends and loved ones. |

Happy People
I have booked my trip to Andros through Big Adam Flyfishing Adventures, I have had trips when I caught an incredible number of fish, trips when I encountered double digit fish, trips when the fishing was OK, and trips when fishing wasn’t all that good. Fishing is fishing! But two things never fail to be the same. The thrill of being on the water, and the phenomenal guides. I have fished with a dozen or so guides, and to a man, they have been knowledgeable, professional, and great companions. Days out with Big Charlie are experiences that I’ll never forget.
But there is more. Fatiha is a wonderful hostess. Under her watchful eye, the lodge is a friendly, intimate environment. The meals are outstanding. Fellow visitors from all over the world are unfailingly fascinating people to get to know. I enjoy meeting and socializing with my fellow guests to the point that I prefer to travel alone. The one exception was a trip when my wife came along. She is not a fisherman, but was welcomed by all at the lodge and thoroughly enjoyed being on the water. The highlight of that trip was a three day excursion that Fatiha arranged for us to tour the island, see the sights, and meet the delightful Bahamian people.
