COVID-19 Planning and Information
From November 1st, the Bahamas will drop 14 day quarantine restrictions, known as “vacation in place” and will instead move to a more comprehensive system of testing. All arrivals onto the islands until October 31st will still be a part of the VIP program, which requires vacationing in place, without leaving resort grounds for the first 14 days of travel. All visitors to the Bahamas from November 1st will instead be required to present a recent negative covid-19 test taken no more than 5 days before arrival, and must also submit to a second test on arrival, as well as a third test circa 5 days after arrival. That’s the good news, the bad news is that tests will be at visitors expense. The Bahamas rapid testing on arrival will be conducted at airports or approved sea borders, with airports including: Nassau, Freeport, Marsh Harbour, North Eleuthera, Georgetown Exuma, Bimini, and San Andros. Arriving at Nassau (Lynden Pindling) International Airport
Nassau’s International Airport is divided into two sections: the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal. You will arrive in the International Terminal, where you will proceed to clear customs and then go to collect your luggage. Once you have your luggage, we suggest you get a porter to assist you to the domestic terminal, about a 5 minutes walk after you proceed outside. And don’t worry, the airport staff are used to dealing with the confusion and most any baggage handler or security staff will be happy to point the way. You need to arrive in Nassau no later than 1 pm to have time to connect to an afternoon commercial flight to Andros. If you arrive later, you can still make a private charter, but remember, Andros airports do not have lights, and no landings or take-offs are permitted after official sunset. Any questions, let us know, and we are happy to make all your travel arrangements for you. Contact Us. |

Flying with Fly Tackle
Carry-On vs. Checked Bags: Expensive tackle—rods, reels, etc—should be carry-on, but fly-lines are an occasional problem. It’s been a while since we’ve had any issues, but there have been reports of anglers being asked to remove them when leaving the Bahamas. Within the US there’s no problem, but you should be prepared to check them if requested by security personnel. Simply removing the spools from your fly-reel can be a quick solution. Flies: The United States Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) actually recommends carrying expensive flies in your carry-on luggage. However, that may not be the case in other countries or leaving the Bahamas. If traveling from the US we recommend carrying on your flies and then checking them on the flight home. All Wet: If you do any wade-fishing, you might have wet boots to carry home with you. A dry-bag or large zip-lock can protect the rest of your luggage. Pre-Travel Information - We will provide you with complete packing recommendations and a pre-travel checklist at the time of your booking. |
